Canyon Ridge of Boise, ID.

Great things are happening in Boise! The past two weeks have been two of the most exciting in our six month history.

Last week, we had 13 baptisms! I wish I could give the entire history of each person, but I'll give the Reader's Digest version.

Jack & Cherie are two of our oldest attenders... and two of our most energetic! After hearing teaching about baptism, Jack and Cherie decided to take the plunge!

George & Cassey started coming to church because their oldest son is required by his school to attend a local church. They came out of obligation... but are now sold out to Christ and Canyon Ridge.

Johnny & Jen were looking for a church to call home. They love the music and the friendly people. Baptism was a big step for Johnny -- he's afraid of water and standing in front of a crowd!

Hannah & her mom Carla amaze all of us. Hannah is sixteen and sits on the front row because that's what you do when you like something! Carla's first Sunday was the day she was baptized!

Cody is a special kid who knew he needed to accept Jesus -- he's an inspiration to us!

Darlee, Collin & Paul are new to church of any kind. They love the home they've found in Canyon Ridge! Rose is a single mom who is always smiling and encouraging others. After attending Canyon Ridge for several months, she decided to "take the deal" (as Dennis said one Sunday).

White Water Christian Church of Laramie, WY.

April 13, 2009

The miracle of life is a breathtaking event. Six times I have been present when God breathed life into a child. During these extraordinary moments the gush of time was frozen into a single cube that rested in the palm of my hand. The birth of each one of my children is etched deep into my soul.

It is much the same with starting a new church, there is a moment that stands out in your mind (September 14th 10:33 am) followed by months of hyper activity that blends into a ball of memories that you are all too happy to call your life.

I wish I could open up my wallet and show you all the pictures from the last 8 months, but instead let me paint you a word picture. She is a collage of people concerned about the needs of others (over $7,000 given toward local and global missions since September 14th). She is a collection of people meeting in homes and offices almost every night of the week (60% of our people are involved in small groups). She is comprised of people who gather corporately on Sundays (Average Sunday attendance of 95 each week). She is an instrument of unity (4 churches came together to put on a Good Friday service and over 400 people attended). She is creative and willing to take risks. She lights up when music is played and loves a wide range of art.

In a word she is "patchwork" a patchwork of all the good things that God has instilled in His creation. White Water is striving to become what God intended and watching this happen is an inspiring thing to watch.

Sincerely,

Pastor Chad Halbach
