My name is Donald (no one calls me that) Burton. I was born in Northwest Iowa and except for nine intervening periods, I lived in the same county fifty-three years. Fourteen years ago this February first I retired and we soon moved to Northeast Minnesota. Six years ago we returned to Iowa to be nearer family. One of my good neighbors in the north land (an Iowan} often called and on this particular occasion a topic of conversation was the fact that we both had difficulty remembering names, even those of friends, His next statement was one that I shall always remember. It was, "All my friends up here all have the same name" --------- "Hi There".
For the past twenty-one months I have had the opportunity of my retired life to be the traveling companion to Mike Sojka, Assistant Director of NPEA. It has been a grand experience to visit many of your churches, meeting unknown brothers and sisters in Christ and reminiscing with the "old timers". It would be a joy to meet you again soon, but I must acknowledge that your names would most likely escape me --------- so ---------"Hi There".
Not knowing who and what the Lord has planned, I gladly anticipate meeting and greeting many of you in this new year as we journey to update supporting churches and to expose others to the challenge of planting new churches.
The congregation that I attend when I am at home here in Fort Dodge is Northfield Church of Christ. A Timothy of this church, just happens to be the lead planter of the Whitewater Christian Church, in Laramie, WY.; Chad and Marsha Halbach. My heart is very much in tune with this endeavor and on a recent trip I was blessed by fellowship and prayer with Chad. I came away very encouraged and also with a deeper understanding of his commitment. There are many needs of this infant church, the greatest is prayer. Please resolve to be a prayer partner for NPEA, to help win the lost.
