I have been involved with the public in customer service for many years, starting as a paper carrier at age 10. Next I became a soda jerk, and then I worked during the four high school years in a combination business that led to a full time job as a meat cutter.

On June 1, 1952, my high school sweetheart (Ruth Lewis) became my bride for more than the next fifty four years. After one year of a two year commitment of army duty during the Korean Conflict, we moved to the county (Obrien) of my birth in N.W. Iowa to remain there for nearly forty years in Sheldon, IA. For 28 1/2 years of this time I worked for a savings institution, the majority of that time as an office manager and loan officer. Being active in community service and on various committees and boards was an extension of the job.

On December 2, 1959. I was immersed into Christ and eventually served the church in many capacities and for several years and I was on the board of the NW Iowa Christian Children’s Home for some time.

I have been interested in the work in the Dakotas since 1974 when our oldest daughter (Lynn) attended Dakota Bible College. We have supported the work of NPEA since its inception and its predecessor prior to that.

We have three children, Lynne, Leah and Barry, eleven grandchildren of which eight are adopted plus one permanent custody considered a grandson and soon to be three great grandchildren.

Shortly after the death of my wife I was asked to consider being Mike Sojka’s traveling companion. For nearly two years (since April of 2007) I have been richly blessed by this association. My wish is that all of you, as I have, would learn the mechanics of church planting, to see and become even more convinced of this great need. If you haven't yet done so, the need is great, come join us.
